Introduction
- This certification scheme is a product certification scheme designed to provide independent assurance that mobile driving license (mDL) products conform to the requirements of applicable international standards.
- The scheme supports a consistent, transparent, and repeatable certification process, enabling product providers, relying parties, regulators and ecosystem participants to have confidence in the interoperability, functionality and compliance of certified products.
- The scheme is based on the principles of ISO/IEC 17067 and is operated in conjunction with independent conformity assessment activities performed by the Fime Certification Body.
Scope
- Mobile Driving License (mDL) Applications against ISO/IEC 18013-5:2021
- Mobile Driving License (mDL) Readers against ISO/IEC 18013-5:2021
Purpose
Promote confidence in digital identity products.
Support standards-based interoperability.
Provide an impartial and transparent certification framework.
Enable product providers to demonstrate conformity through independent certification.
Support the development of trusted digital identity ecosystems.
Governance
- The Scheme Owner, Fime SAS, is responsible for maintaining the Scheme, including certification requirements, governance processes, change management procedures, technical requirements and supporting documentation.
- The Fime Certification Body is responsible for certification decisions and certificate issuance in accordance with the Scheme requirements.
- The Scheme is subject to ongoing maintenance and periodic review to ensure continued suitability, effectiveness and alignment with applicable standards and industry developments.
