FIME supports NFC device manufacturers to certify their handsets with test tool and laboratory services.
FIME’s Korean laboratory has been recognised by the Global Certification Forum (GCF), enabling it to support handset manufacturers in verifying that their devices meet the GCF Certification Criteria relating to UICC-based Near Field Communication (NFC). FIME’s Global Device test tool has also been approved by GCF and can now be used to perform product testing for device manufacturers around the world. It is available to purchase for in-house pre-certification testing.
GCF is an independent certification scheme for mobile phones and wireless devices based on 3GPP and 3GPP2 standards. GCF has referenced the GSMA NFC Handset Test Book PRD TS27 in its Certification Criteria for devices supporting UICC-based NFC services. As a GCF Recognised Test Organisation, FIME is now able to undertake the tests required for GCF’s mobile device certification.
FIME’s GCF Recognised Test Organisation, based in Korea, will support global NFC-enabled handset manufacturers to ensure that products operate as intended once in the hands of consumers.
“This is an important step for the NFC industry,” comments Stephanie El Rhomri, NFC and Payment Business Line Manager at FIME. “GCF is central to the telecom industry and, for the first time, NFC will be held to the same standards, by the same body, as other telecom technologies. The convergence of the test book, GCF and testing providers, like FIME, will give manufacturers confidence while rolling out their new devices. This kind of testing framework and market trust is key to the progress of NFC as we seek greater stability, interoperability and widespread adoption.”
This news follows a recent announcement from FIME regarding the addition of new test libraries to its Global Device tool to make NFC device testing simpler, quicker and more cost effective. Contact FIME to discuss this topic further;
